CHURCH’S VINTAGE BROGUES – BROWN / TAN – UK 6.5 – HARTWELL - EXCELLENT CONDITION
A super (and very rare) vintage pair of Custom Grade five-eyelet full-brogue oxford shoes in sandalwood bookbinder leather from Church – perfect town-and-country footwear. They are in excellent used condition – notwithstanding a little creasing across the vamps and the odd surface mark here and there (see photos). These shoes feature the lightweight ‘Rambler’ rubber soles and are otherwise very similar to Church’s classic ‘Burwood’ brogues, being off the same 81 last. This is a very rare design to find and you will be extremely unlucky to ever meet anyone else wearing the same shoes as you – always a good feeling, I think.
In my opinion, although modern-day Church shoes are still very desirable, well-made and fashioned from first-class materials, they are not quite as exceptional as those from some years ago. So, if you can find a pair of vintage Church’s in really nice condition then you are probably finding some of the nicest shoes around.
The style is ‘Hartwell’ – traditional elegance and perfect town and country footwear; This pair were formed on the 81 ‘Burwood’ Last.
The width fitting is ‘F’ - which is the ‘standard’ width fitting.
The shoes feature lightweight ‘Rambler’ rubber soles, bookbinder leather uppers, and full leather linings - plus all the hand-built quality that one expects from this top English shoemaker.
