CHURCH’S VINTAGE BROGUES – BROWN / MAHOGANY - UK 8.5 – CHETWYND – EXCELLENT CONDITION
A very fine pair of vintage Custom Grade full-brogue oxford shoes in beautiful mahogany calf leather from Church’s – perfect town and country footwear. They are in excellent used condition, overall – notwithstanding a little creasing across the vamps and the odd surface mark here and there (see photos). The shoes had been fitted with rubber over-soles but these have been removed to reveal the original leather soles beneath. Top quality leather in this colourway always develops a beautiful patina over time – and these vintage shoes are doing very nicely indeed.
In my opinion, although modern-day Church’s shoes are still very desirable, well-made and fashioned from first-class materials, they are not quite as exceptional as those from some years ago. So, if you can find a pair of vintage Church’s in really nice condition then you are probably finding some of the nicest shoes around.
The width fitting is ‘F’ – which is the ‘standard’ width fitting.
The style is ‘Chetwynd V’ – a classic Church’s design – never out-of-place; this pair were formed on popular 73 Last.
The shoes feature leather soles, calf leather uppers, lightweight leather / linen linings and all the build-quality that one expects from this traditional English shoemaker.
