CHURCH’S VINTAGE BROGUES – BROWN - UK 8.5 – CHETWYND – EXCELLENT CONDITION
A super pair of vintage Custom Grade full-brogue oxford shoes in beautiful brown calf leather from Church’s – never out-of-place. They are in excellent used condition, overall – notwithstanding a little creasing across the vamps and the odd surface mark here and there (see photos). Top quality leather in this colourway always develops a beautiful patina over time – and these are doing very nicely indeed. This pair were fitted with rubber over-soles when new but these have been removed to reveal the original, unworn leather soles beneath.
In my opinion, although modern-day Church’s shoes are still very desirable, well-made and fashioned from first-class materials, they are not quite as exceptional as those from some years ago. So, if you can find a pair of vintage Church’s in really nice condition then you are probably finding some of the nicest shoes around.
The width fitting is ‘D’ – which is a ‘narrow’ width fitting. The actual measurements are:-
Outer sole (heel to toe) c. 29.8 CM
Width (widest point) c. 10.6 CM
The style is ‘Chetwynd’ – a classic Church’s design – never out-of-place; this pair were formed on popular 73 Last.
The shoes feature leather soles, calf leather uppers, lightweight leather / linen linings and all the build-quality that one expects from this traditional English shoemaker.
