CHURCH’S VINTAGE DERBY – BROWN / TAN – UK 11 – ELGIN – UNWORN CONDITION
A super, vintage pair of four-eyelet, plain–front derby shoes in brown / tan ‘Highland Steer’ leather from Church’s. They are in immaculate condition (see photos) and I have listed the shoes as used because they may have been tried on but I don’t think that they actually have been. The shoe are in their original box – but it has some handwriting on it. This is a very rare design to find – so, you will be most unlikely to ever meet anyone else wearing the same shoes as you - always a nice feeling, I think.
In my opinion, although modern-day Church’s shoes are still very desirable, well-made and fashioned from first-class materials, they are not quite as exceptional as those from some years ago. So, if you can find a pair of vintage Church’s in really nice condition then you are probably finding some of the nicest shoes around.
But, please remember, these are not new so do not bid on them if you want a pair of completely unmarked shoes – they will cost considerably more !!
The width fitting is ‘F’ - which is the ‘standard’ width fitting.
The style is ‘Elgin’ – classic proportions and featuring some very neat contrast stitching work. This is a rare design to see, so you will be most unlikely to ever meet anyone else wearing the same shoes as you - always a nice feeling, I think. The shoes are off the 81 last, which is also used for Church’s ‘Burwood’ oxford brogues.
The shoes feature ‘Highland Steer’ leather uppers, full leather linings, leather soles and all the hand-built quality one would expect from Church’s.
