CHURCH’S VINTAGE LAZYMAN LOAFERS – BROWN / TAN HIPPO HIDE – UK 7.5 – INDABA – EXCELLENT CONDITION
A very fine (and extremely rare) pair of vintage, Custom Grade ‘lazyman’ loafers in ‘brown / tan Hippopotamus hide leather from Church’s. They are in excellent used condition overall – notwithstanding a little creasing across the vamps and the odd surface mark here and there (see photos). This design is extremely rare to see (I have never seen another pair myself) - so, you will be most unlikely to ever meet anyone else wearing the same shoes as you - always a nice feeling, I think.
In my opinion, although modern-day Church’s shoes are still very desirable, well-made and fashioned from first-class materials, they are not quite as exceptional as those from some years ago. So, if you can find a pair of vintage Church’s in really nice condition then you are probably finding some of the nicest shoes around.
The width fitting is ‘F’ - which is the ‘standard’ width fitting.
The style is ‘Indaba’ – beautifully proportioned and built on the 54 Last. I believe the style name comes from a South African word meaning ‘meeting’.
The shoes feature ‘Genuine Hippo’ leather uppers, lightweight leather / linen linings, leather soles and all the hand-built quality one would expect from Church’s.
Wonderful quality shoes from a traditional English shoemaker.
