JOSEPH CHEANEY VINTAGE LAZYMAN LOAFERS – BLACK – UK 8 – COMPTON – EXCELLENT CONDITION
A very fine (and very rare) pair of vintage gentlemen’s lazyman loafers in in beautiful black calf leather from Joseph Cheaney. They are in excellent used condition overall – notwithstanding a little creasing across the vamps and the odd surface mark here and there – including a knick towards the toe on the vamp of the left shoe (see photos). This design is very rare to find, so you will be highly unlikely to ever meet anyone else wearing the same shoes as you - always a nice feeling, I think.
In my opinion, although modern-day Cheaney shoes are still very desirable, well-made and fashioned from first-class materials, they are not quite as exceptional as those from some years ago. So, if you can find a pair of vintage Cheaneys in really nice condition then you are probably finding some of the nicest shoes around.
But, please remember, these are not new so do not bid on them if you want a pair of completely unmarked shoes – they will cost considerably more !!
The width fitting is ‘E’ – which is the ‘narrower-than-standard’ width fitting.
The style is ‘Compton III’ – beautifully proportioned with a neat low profile.
The shoes feature leather soles, calf leather uppers, lightweight leather / linen linings and all the build-quality that one expects from this traditional English shoemaker.
