CHURCH’S VINTAGE BROGUES – BROWN / BURGUNDY – GRAFTON – UK 8 – EXCELLENT CONDITION
A very fine, vintage pair of Custom Grade derby shoes in beautiful burgundy bookbinder leather from Church’s. This is their iconic ‘Grafton’ semi-brogue and they are in excellent used condition, overall – notwithstanding a little creasing across the vamps and the odd surface mark here and there (see photos). These top-of-the-range, Custom Grade Church’s shoes currently retail quite happily at around £500 (see Herring Shoes website, for instance). Top quality leather in this colourway always develops a beautiful patina over time – and these are doing very nicely.
In my opinion, although modern-day Church’s shoes are still very desirable, well-made and fashioned from first-class materials, they are not quite as exceptional as those from some years ago. So, if you can find a pair of vintage Church’s in really nice condition then you are probably finding some of the nicest shoes around.
The style is ‘Grafton’ – traditional elegance; a real classic and a ‘must have’ for any gentleman’s wardrobe. This pair were formed on the popular 73 Last.
The width fitting is ‘F’ - which is the ‘standard’ width fitting.
The shoes feature leather soles, storm welts, bookbinder leather uppers and full leather linings - plus all the hand-built quality that one expects from this top English shoemaker.
